Boogie Fland Commits to the University of Florida
Former McDonald’s All-American Boogie Fland has committed to the University of Florida. A highly recruited point guard from New York City, Fland played at the University of Arkansas last season. Boogie was projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft before he injured his right thumb on January 11, 2025.
He initially tried to play through the pain but later had surgery to repair his Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL). He returned to the court during the NCAA Tournament, though he showed some signs of rust. After the season ended, Fland faced a tough decision: whether to enter the NBA draft or return to college. At just eighteen years old, he is not in a rush to make the jump to the NBA. It’s great for him to have options, especially considering his potential.
Heading to Florida
After carefully considering several options, Fland has decided to attend the University of Florida. Fland will join a team that recently won the 2025 NCAA Championship and will take on the point guard position previously held by future NBA prospect Walter Clayton Jr. Under the guidance of Coach Todd Golden, Fland seems well-positioned for success. He averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. Before an injury set him back, he was on track to make the SEC Freshmen All-First Team.
With the addition of Boogie Fland, Florida can win back-to-back championships, similar to their successes in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The University of Florida has a strong history of players making it to the NBA, including Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Udonis Haslem, Corey Brewer, Bradley Beal, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Tre Mann. We hope to add Boogie Fland to this impressive list soon.
