The NBA has announced the reserves for the 2025 All-Star Game. While I know everyone can’t play, these four players deserve to be in San Francisco on All-Star weekend.
TRAE YOUNG

This is the second time Trae Young has been overlooked for the NBA All-Star Game. In 2021, when the All-Star Game took place in Atlanta, Young was not selected to play despite averaging 25 points and 9 assists that season. Now, in 2025, Trae Young is averaging 22.5 points while leading the NBA with 11.4 assists per game. Given his consistent performance since entering the league, it is disappointing to see him snubbed for a second time.
Devin Booker

Devin Booker’s exclusion from the All-Star Game underscores the need for him to step out of Kevin Durant’s shadow. Booker is averaging 25 points and 6 assists for the Phoenix Suns, who are in 9th place in the Western Conference. In contrast, Durant has been named a Western Conference starter, despite averaging only two more points than Booker and having played five fewer games. This snub from the All-Star selection suggests that Booker may need to request a trade before Durant’s presence adversely affects Booker’s career.
DOMANTAS SOBONIS

Domantas Sabonis is currently averaging 20.9 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. If those aren’t All-Star numbers, I don’t know what is! The Kings were 13-18 when they fired Mike Brown, but since the coaching change, they’ve improved to an 11-5 record. It’s disappointing that Sabonis was not selected for the 2025 All-Star Game.
LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball might be the most significant snub for the 2025 All-Star Game. He is currently fourth in the NBA in scoring, averaging 28 points per game. Additionally, he averages over 7 assists per game, which makes it truly surprising that he wasn’t selected. Although the Charlotte Hornets are experiencing another losing season, that shouldn’t be held against Ball.
