The New York Jets have informed Aaron Rodgers that they will be moving on without him. The 41-year-old quarterback was traded to the Jets on April 24, 2023, as the team was eager to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010 and decided to take a chance on the four-time MVP.
However, New York quickly realized that Rodgers was not the solution when he sustained a season-ending injury just four plays into his first game with the Jets. After months of rehabilitation, he was ready to start the 2024-25 NFL season. Unfortunately, Rodgers led the Jets to a disappointing 5-12 record, finishing the season with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Rodgers will be an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can sign with any NFL team that wants him. Aside from the desire to win another Super Bowl ring, there is little reason for Rodgers to return to the NFL. However, if he does want to win another Super Bowl, he will have to do so as a backup player.
