 
                  Auburn University will officially retire Cam Newton’s iconic No. 2 jersey on October 11, 2025, during the Tigers’ home game against SEC rival Georgia at Jordan-Hare Stadium. This honor cements Newton’s legacy as one of the most impactful players in Auburn and college football history.
Auburn’s Decision
Newton will become only the fourth Auburn player ever to have his jersey retired, joining legends:
- Pat Sullivan (No. 7) – 1971 Heisman winner
- Bo Jackson (No. 34) – 1985 Heisman winner
- Terry Beasley (No. 88) – standout wide receiver
Athletic Director John Cohen described the retirement as “a fitting way to celebrate his lasting impact on Auburn University and Auburn Athletics for all time.”
