Cam Thomas, Josh Giddey, and Jonathan Kuminga Face Harsh Reality”

Cam Thomas, Josh Giddey, and Jonathan Kuminga: Time to Settle?

The offseason has seen three promising young NBA players—Cam Thomas, Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey, and Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga—hold out hope for massive new contracts worth $30 million per year. But is it time they accept what the market says they’re worth?

🏀 Cam Thomas – Brooklyn Nets

Thomas is an explosive scorer, but concerns about his defense and playmaking have capped his market value. The Nets reportedly offered him $14 million per year, far short of his target. If no deal is reached, Thomas could play under the $5.99M qualifying offer and enter unrestricted free agency next season.

🏀 Josh Giddey – Chicago Bulls

Giddey has shown flashes of brilliance and posted near triple-double averages after being traded to Chicago. However, the Bulls are reportedly offering around $22.5 million annually, not the $30 million he’s seeking. Many around the league see him as a $20–25M player at best.

🏀 Jonathan Kuminga – Golden State Warriors

Kuminga wants a $30M/year payday, but Golden State has maxed out at 2 years, $40M. With trade rumors swirling, he may opt to play under his $8M qualifying offer next season and test the market in 2026.

💡 Reality Check

All three players are talented, but the market is cold. With cap limitations and team leverage, a $30M deal seems far-fetched—at least for now. If they genuinely believe in themselves, taking a shorter deal or a qualifying offer might be the best bet for long-term success.
