After Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became the first player since 2000 to win the regular-season MVP, Finals MVP, and the scoring title. Conversations around the league and through media have been debating whether or not Shai is the best Okholmola Thunder player of all time.
SGA’s 2024–25 season was legendary. Averaging over 32 points per game, dominating on both ends of the floor, and setting franchise records, Shai became the face of a young, dynamic OKC squad that took the league by storm. His Finals performance against Indiana, where he outdueled multiple All-Stars, proved he’s not just elite, he’s generational.

What About Durant and Westbrook?
It’s impossible to talk Thunder greatness without mentioning Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Durant won the 2014 MVP and led OKC to the 2012 Finals, making four All-NBA First Teams. He remains the franchise’s top scorer per game and was a global icon. Westbrook, meanwhile, was the emotional engine. His 2017 MVP season, triple-double legacy, and fierce loyalty to OKC made him beloved by fans and respected league-wide.
While both helped elevate the Thunder to national prominence, neither delivered a title a box that Shai has now emphatically checked.
So, Who’s No. 1?
In my opinion, I believe achievements and trophies are better than personal stats. I truly do believe the Kevin Durant and Russel westbrook era was a great run, but what Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has done in this one season has surpassed the dynamic duo legacy.
So, in my personal opinion, I believe Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the best Okhomloa thunder of all time ( so far ).
