The Mets secured a commanding 4–0 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field, reclaiming first place.
The night began with concern when starting pitcher Griffin Canning left the game due to a lower leg injury. However, the Mets’ bullpen stepped up to the challenge. Austin Warren pitched 2⅓ innings and earned the win. This was followed by scoreless performances from Dedniel Núñez, Ryne Stanek, and Edwin Díaz.
The Mets got off to a strong start, scoring early in the game. Tyrone Taylor drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Pete Alonso contributed with an RBI single. Finally, Jeff McNeil put the game out of reach with a two-run single in the seventh
Now 48–34, the Mets split the four-game series with Atlanta and edge past the Philadelphia Phillies by half a game for first in the division. They’ll now travel to Pittsburgh for a three-game set with hopes of extending their lead.
Canning’s injury will be closely monitored, but for now, the Mets are clicking at the right time—on the mound and at the plate.
