In the heart of Pittsburgh, T.J. and Megan McConnell have quietly built one of the most remarkable sibling legacies in recent memory. T.J. McConnell is a determined point guard in the NBA. Along with his younger sister Megan, an emerging talent in the WNBA, they have both carved out their unique path.
T.J. McConnell: The Gritty NBA Veteran
T.J. McConnell was born on March 25, 1992, and grew up surrounded by basketball. His father, Tim McConnell, was a respected high school coach at Chartiers Valley High School. T.J. made a name for himself by averaging 34.2 points per game in his senior year.
After a standout start to his college career at Duquesne University, T.J. transferred to Arizona. He helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances and was named First-Team All-Pac-12.
Megan McConnell: Duquesne Star and WNBA Prospect
Nearly a decade younger than T.J., Megan McConnell followed a similar path. She emerged as a standout at Chartiers Valley High School, too. A natural floor leader like her brother, Megan led the team to a 30–0 season and a Pennsylvania state title. She graduated with over 1,500 career points and led the team through a 57-game win streak.
Megan became one of the most decorated players in school history at Duquesne University. Over five seasons, she led the Dukes in nearly every statistical category, finishing second all-time in points and rebounds while setting records for assists, steals, and triple-doubles. Her senior season included averages of 18.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.1 steals per game.
In June 2025, Megan signed with the Phoenix Mercury after going undrafted. She debuted on June 3 with 3 points and three assists in 13 minutes before suffering a knee injury.
