For a long while, WNBA players have received a large amount of criticism. With many fans only pointing out the bad performances of individual players, they often overlook the great performances of many, such as Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese. No matter their skills or accomplishments, many fans seem more interested in comparing female athletes to male athletes rather than appreciating their greatness on their terms.
But here’s the reality: Not only are WNBA players great athletes, but they are also a league full of role models, not only inspiring the next generation of women’s basketball, but also giving a prime example of what hard work and determination can get you.
Being underappreciated online is one thing; many people don’t see the true work of an athlete. Instead sit on their couch and laugh at a hard-working individual short shortcomings. But being underappreciated by the league you work in is horrible. Despite the rise of fans attending the games, merchandise being sold, and TV deals. The WNBA still doesn’t appreciate its players, often not paying them as much as they should

It’s time to shift the narrative. These are the world’s best female basketball players. They deserve to be treated and paid with the respect they’ve earned. All this hate and criticism show a culture that still undervalues women’s sports. Because greatness isn’t defined by gender. It’s defined by passion, skill, and impact, and WNBA players have all three in abundance.
