The Tennessee Titans have fired head coach Brian Callahan after a disappointing 1–5 start to the 2025 NFL season. Callahan was hired to replace coach Mike Vrabel in early 2024.

Callahan was the former offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was expected to modernize the Titans’ offense and guide quarterback Will Levis into franchise-leader status. Something that’s never happened. Inconsistency on both sides of the ball helped the Titans finish 3-14 in 2024.

Tennessee finished 3–14 in 2024. 2025 isn’t starting off much better.

“We appreciate Brian’s commitment and professionalism,” the Titans said in a team statement. “However, our organization believes it’s time to move in a different direction as we evaluate the future of our football program.”

Veteran assistant Mike McCoy has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season. McCoy, a former Denver Broncos head coach and longtime offensive coordinator, is expected to stabilize the locker room. He’s strapped with the task of re-energizing a roster that’s endured two years of disappointment.

Roster Moves Add to Tumultuous Week

The coaching shake-up wasn’t the only change in Nashville. On October 7, 2025, the Titans waived wide receiver Treylon Burks from injured reserve. This officially ends the former first-round pick’s tenure with the team. His release underscores Tennessee’s ongoing offensive overhaul, as the front office looks to surround Levis with more consistent playmakers.

The Tennessee Titans are currently in last place in the AFC South. They are searching for answers amid injuries, offensive stagnation, and fan frustration. However, with talents like Tyjae Spears and Jeffery Simmons, the team has a foundation to build around. The organization hopes a fresh voice at the top can restore some competitiveness. The Titans are searching for some hope heading into the second half of the season.
